We were approached to contribute to the restoration, storytelling and reopening efforts for the legendary Casa Bonita “restaurant”. The creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, were looking to create a physical space to encapsulate the rich history of this Colorado icon pay homage to all its weird and unique elements. This led to the creation of the Casa Bonita Museum (Museo) experience.

CG partnered with Herman to help review and organize a treasure trove of artifacts and documents that embodied Casa Bonita’s storied past. Crafting a cohesive and historically accurate narrative for the museum was challenging but truly exciting and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us. The sheer volume of items, spanning over 50 years, required meticulous sorting and thoughtful integration into the storyline.

Casa Bonita holds a special place in the hearts of all of us who grew up in Colorado and had the opportunity to work on this project. It was the site of countless childhood birthday parties and family gatherings that spanned decades and every visit to the site unlocked memories of the hours spent hiding in Black Bart’s cave, watching the cliff divers in awe and eating way more sopapillas than anyone ever should.
